FRANK BADUR

*1944, LIVES AND WORKS IN BERLIN AND FINNLAND
Frank Badurs work explores the tradition of American post-war Colour Field painting. His dimensionally varying drawings show clearly structured geometric Colour Fields that find themselves in tense relationships with subtle grid-structures. Chromatic values, like purity, nuances and luminosity of the single colours and their contrasting relationships, are topics of his work; while he also explores the geometrical relationship of the fields. The opposition of colour and non-colour -like red and black- are the result of his interest in Asian art, a theme the artist also deals with in his professorship.
